Brushed Nickel

While there may be a lot of designs that tickle your fancy as you browse the web for ideas, towel bar options are not as countless as other items like faucets or doorknobs that come in numerous models.  The reason is because other accessories can take on different forms without putting function into a compromising situation.  Designing towel bars is a bit tougher compared to these other bathroom staples, because its function always has to be taken into consideration.  Towel bars are normally screwed right onto the wall, and they need to be strong enough to support a bit of weight.  A couple of wet towels can weigh quite a bit, and towel bars are usually designed to hold even more weight in case someone leans on it for support.

While usually made out of metal, brushed nickel towel bars are becoming very common these days because of their great style.  Brushed nickel is used for many different household accessories.  You can have quite a few of them in the bathroom alone, including a brushed nickel mirror and faucet.  The surface is scratched evenly to produce the brushed effect, which reduces the glare but retains the shiny, silver surface.

As far as size goes, these towel bars normally come in standard sizes. The most common are 18, 24, and 30 inch bars.  A 30” towel bar is usually as wide as you want to go, and remember if you need extra space, you can install a double bar or a towel rack in the shower area.  You can even get a brushed nickel towel bar set that includes a couple of matching bars.

Single brushed nickel towel bars are the most common of all styles, with designs usually varying at the base part.  The towel bar itself is just a single rod, but the part that is screwed to the wall will differ from product to product.  You can choose a really decorative bar to compliment your bathroom features.   Although the nickel coating can contribute to its strength, a heavy force can still cause it to bend.  Make sure the bar is strong enough to support a decent amount of weight.

A brushed nickel double towel bar may be suitable for smaller sized bathrooms.  The dual level provides ample space for towels but does not really take up any more wall space than a single bar.  Swing arm bars are towel rods that typically have three bars and could hold the most towels among these three choices.  Support may seem compromised because it is single ended with the other end being free so you can swing/move it, but it does not fall short in this aspect.  They are just as sturdy as those with double ended supports and this might be a good choice for large families that use a common bathroom.
